Let me start off by saying honey, do *not* buy these online for $22 plus shipping. It’s a plastic box. I found these exact same Lego boxes at Walmart for $9, base plate included. The boxes themselves are Iris brand and are available at most craft stores for $5. This one’s cute, though, since it’s a pretty color and has the Lego guy’s head on it.

To get on with the actual review – the box itself is fantastic. It’s a nice wide size so you can fit a base plate and a whole mess of Legos in it, the top is hinged and clips in front and is secure but still easy enough for a kid to use. My son is eight and has no problem latching and unlatching this box. It’s not particularly deep so tall creations in progress may not fit – Iris makes other deeper boxes that work great for this purpose. This hinged box fits inside of the deeper boxes, which is awesome for keeping things consolidated.

I can’t really go on much more about it because it is just a plastic box, but it’s durable and easy to use and it helps keep my childrens’ Legos from being permanently scattered all over the floor. It’s a good size for them, too, with a built-in handle for carrying. Get yourself one or three!

Pros: Height is tall enough for some of those bigger Duplo pieces, later when a child transitions to Legos, just buy the separation tray, or leave without for legos. I put the lego base away for now, and bought the duplo building base, later we will switch. Attractive colors, translucent enough to define what is in the container.

Cons: The lid decal is on the cheesy side, for the price, they should be better or printed into the plastic. Ours containers were filthy when they arrived and required three washings to make them sparkle. DON’T let it soak or it will affect the decal.

It would be nice if the inside lid had a vinyl sleeve to tuck away the idea booklets that often come with a set, and a duplo separation insert tray with wider spaces to accommodate the bigger pieces, however it works fine without.
